Elite Hoops Basketball Drill: Left Hand Layups

Posted by Anonymous | Thursday, March 30, 2017 | Category: | 0 comments

It's very important that players  have the basics when it comes to basketball skills. In this video below you will see the athletes practice two- different variations of a left had lay-up.

1. Over-hand lay-up

2. Scoop Lay-up

When you are able to do both at game speed, then add a defender when practicing. It's vital that athletes keep their basic basketball skills sharp.

Elite Hoops Playset: Villanova

Posted by Anonymous | Wednesday, March 22, 2017 | Category: | 0 comments

The defending champion Villanova Wildcats fell short of their desired finish but they did everything they could not to fall short. This motion offense is a 4 out that keeps the defense moving and spaces the floor to allow penetration. The end of the play finishes with a ballscreen that gives the ball handler  options on what play to make. This set is best when used with good ball handlers.

Play begins with P1 passing to P3 and cutting to the weak side corner while everybody else replaces. P3 then reverses the ball through P4 to P2 then P3 and P4 exchange. P5 then sets a ball screen giving P2 options for the layup, drop off to P5, or kickouts to P3 and P4 for a 3 point shot.

Elite Hoops Playset: UNC Secondary

Posted by Anonymous | Thursday, March 16, 2017 | Category: | 0 comments

Number 1 seed North Carolina has played great the entire year. This team likes to attempt to get easy points in transition by playing fast but what people do not realize is that it is very organized chaos. UNC recruits athletes that are able to fit right into their systems and teams struggle to defend actions in transition where they do a lot of their scoring. The play below contains one of the secondary breaks that focuses on getting the bigs involved.

Play begins with P1 reversing the ball to P3. P2 then sets a back screen looking for a lob for P4. If not there, P4 sets a back screen for P5 and the ball is reversed back across the court looking for a post touch for P5. If nothing is open then team is set up for motion.
