Elite Hoops Playset: Izzo SLOB

Posted by Anonymous | Tuesday, December 15, 2015 | Category: | 0 comments

Tom Izzo has been at Michigan St running a successful program for many years. One of the reasons for this is that every possession is looked at as critical and even when the ball is taken out of bounds they are looking for quick hitters and easy buckets. This SLOB gives Mich St layup, 3pt, and slip options that most plays do not. Any mistake made by the defense can turn into an easy two points.

This SLOB begins with P2 passing to P1 flashing towards half court. P2 then sprints off of a backscreen set by P3 while P1 dribbles to the opposite wing looking to make the post feed. P3 immediately cuts between the gate screen set by the post players looking for an open 3. If defended well, P4 or P5 can slip and look for a layup.

Elite Hoops Playset: Box STS

Posted by Anonymous | Tuesday, December 1, 2015 | Category: | 0 comments

Superstars like Westbrook and Durant may not need many plays drawn up to help their team scoring wise but it always helps to have a play or two to get them going. This play drawn up by Billy Donovan contains some screening the screener action and usually ends up with an open 3 pointer for Kevin Durant. If a switch occurs there will be a mismatch which Durant will win 95% of the time.

"Box STS" begins in a box set. P1 feeds the high post and runs off of a flare screen by P4. While P2 clears to the opposite corner the ball is reversed through P4 to P1. P3 then sets a backscreen for P5 and P4 follows with a downscreen for P3 looking for the open shot.
