Is It Really Your Coach's Fault?

Posted by Chris Langley | Friday, January 21, 2011 | Category: , , , | 0 comments

Every basketball player should watch this video before they blame their coach for their lack of playing time. Are you really doing everything you can to become a better player and find playing time on your team? If not, you can't complain or blame your coach!

Special thanks to Alan Stein, strength and conditioning coach for DeMatha Catholic High School boys basketball team and owner of Stronger Team, for posting this all to true video. To get more info about Alan Stein and Stronger Team visit strongerteam.com.

Georgia High School Basketball Rankings-January 20, 2011

Posted by Chris Langley | Thursday, January 20, 2011 | Category: | 0 comments

The new high school rankings were released earlier this week and it is no surprise that Milton stays a top class 5A rankings after their win over the #1 team in the country, Oak Hill Academy. National powerhouse Miller Grove (ranked #3 nationally) also stays atop the 4A rankings as they head into the bulk of their region schedule. If undefeated Miller Grove continues their winning ways they could be considered for the #1 spot in the nation. Check out both of these teams in action this weekend at Norcross High School in the Marriott Invitational.

The Lady Dogs and the Lady Yellow Jackets Off to Impressive Starts

With impressive wins this past week over top 10 opponents, both the Lady Jackets and Lady Dogs programs appear that they are primed for NCAA tournament runs.

Led by the stellar play of 5 time ACC Freshman of the Week, guard Tyaunna Marshall, the Lady Jackets are off to a 14-4 record. Their record includes wins over Georgia and #8 UNC, as well as a current 11 game win streak, as they head into an important ACC matchup against Virginia tonight in Atlanta.

One hour to the East, the Lady Dogs are also off to an impressive 13-3 record with wins over Indiana, South Carolina, and #10 Kentucky. The Lady Dogs are led by senior forward Porsha Phillips, who averages a double-double with 11.8 ppg and 10.7 rpg. The Lady Dogs are currently on a 3 game win streak heading into their SEC match-up tonight against Arkansas in Fayettville.

As these two rival women's basketball programs head into the bulk of their conference schedules, which team will end the season with the better record?

2011 Elite Hoops NIKE Basketball Camp Schedule

Posted by Elite Hoops | Tuesday, January 11, 2011 | Category: , , | 0 comments

Elite Hoops will be directing 19 NIKE Basketball Camps across the east coast this summer for players ranging in age from 8-16. Eleven of these camps will be in Georgia where Elite Hoops is based while the other camps will be in Alabama (3), Tennessee (3), North Carolina (1) and Indiana (1).

These camps are a great way for players to work on their individual skill development that they might not be receiving as they are busy traveling for their summer team tournaments. Each NIKE camp directed by Elite Hoops is run with the individual player in mind. Players will play in one 5 on 5 game per day, however the rest of the day is spent on skill development.

In the morning, after we stretch and have an active warmup, players run through two hours of offensive and defensive skills stations which also include 15 minutes of classroom teaching. After our Skill Stations, we have Camp Contests in which players play a variety of competitive shooting, ballhandling or dribbling games. After lunch, players compete in our Living by Number (LBN) series, where they compete to get their name on our LBN Banner by breaking ballhandling, or shooting records held by previous campers. After the LBN series, players are put through our 3 on 3 CutThroat half court games. This is an intense and fast paced game that forces players to catch in the triple threat, screen, cut and communicate with their teammates.

If you're looking for a way to improve your game and want to have fun while you do it, make sure to register for one of our camps today. We would love to have you attend one our our camps and learn how to get the most out of your game.

Elite Hoops has been directing NIKE Basketball Camps since 2005. In 2010, Elite Hoops directed 20 NIKE Basketball Camps in 5 states with over 1100 players attending those camps.

Elite Hoops Hall of Famer's Get Big Win for 76ers

Posted by Chris Langley | Saturday, January 8, 2011 | Category: , , , , | 0 comments

Two former Gwinnett County player's and Elite Hoops Hall of Famer's, Lou Williams and Jodie Meeks combined for 44 points in the 76ers 105-99 win over the Bulls. The win avenges a 45 point loss on December 21st. This impressive win over the #4 team in the Eastern Conference is the 76ers' second in a row and also gives them a slim 1 game lead for the 8th and final playoff spot. With Meeks' insertion into the starting lineup and Williams' stellar play off the bench, the 76ers have seen a resurgence over the past month. Continue to keep track of these two emerging stars as they work to lead the 76ers to the 2011 NBA playoffs.
