NIKE Boys Basketball Camp: Championship Friday at Piney Grove Middle School

Posted by Anonymous | Saturday, June 21, 2014 | Category: |

One of Elite Hoops main goal is to make sure our campers feel as if they are known, understood, and appreciated by each and every coach on staff. Sometimes the larger camps take a few more extra days to reach our goal, but camp here at Piney Grove is always a much easier location to quickly know each and every camper on a more personal level. This is one reason why coaches enjoy working their week at this gym. While camp is a much smaller ratio, our coaches like to make sure that the campers still fill the gym with excitement.  The campers this week lived up to the coaches request and made sure that even though they were at a smaller sized camp, they brought a whole new level of energy that filled the gym as if over a 100 campers were present. Way to make us proud campers! While 63 campers attended this week, we hope that the other's who were on the wait list get to attend next year as well! See you next summer Piney Grove!

Throughout this week, the NIKE Boys Basketball Camp at Piney Grove had exciting and great moments. Championship Friday was nothing less than inspirational for all the staffers and campers. That morning, the campers walked into the gym with an extra bounce in their step. Anyone could notice the focused and determined look in the eyes of the campers. We started off the day with living by numbers. Next we quickly jumped into our individual skills stations for a quick review. Each day the campers rotated between 3 different skill stations. Individual skills, 3on3, and video session gives helps teach all parts of the game to the campers.

Now its championship time! The first championship round was the 5on5 games.  The NBA and high school division championships was balanced throughout the week. Next was our Living By Numbers Championships. With so many returning campers, there was a lot of anticipation of who will be selected. Living by Numbers (LBN) program online has been extremely beneficial to most of the campers. Lastly the crowd favorite was 3on3 Cut Throat Championship. All week the campers have been earning points and learning different ways to be successful with their teams. Coaches, players, and parents enjoyed the intensity during the 3on3 games.

Championship Friday ended with our NIKE Awards Ceremony. All the campers received camps T-shirts, workbooks, players evaluations, and various fun prizes. Below is the list of LBN winners and the photos of the individual winners. We are sad the camp ended today, but we are more excited about the improvement of all the campers. See you next year Piney Grove!

Now, watch as two of our campers tie and break two Living By Numbers drills. Lucas Garabadian ties the NBA record for Cone Layups with a total of 9! Zak Thomas sets the new record for the High School Division of 250 dribbles in Two Ball Power Dribble.
