Butler is known for taking teams without the most talent very far in the post season and plays like this explains why they have been so successful. Lots of movement away from the ball containing awkward angled screens make any team difficult to defend because teams are not used to having to guard these actions. See below one of the plays used by Butler to help them score throughout games.
Play starts with P1 dribbling to the wing and passing to P4 flashing to the weak side elbow to receive a pass. P2 and P3 sprint to the opposite corners then P3 sets a flare screen for P1 looking for an open 3 point shot. If not open, P1 will look to drive baseline or possibly pass to P5 posting in the paint.
