NIKE Boys Basketball Camp: Championship Thursday at Creekland Middle School

Posted by Anonymous | Sunday, July 13, 2014 | Category: |

Our very first camp at Creekland Middle School was definitely a success. Campers worked hard every day and left the gym exhausted every afternoon. The goal set for our campers by our coaches was to get 1% better every day they were in the gym. Campers worked on their game in skills working on ball handling, 3on3, and in the classroom giving each player a chance to learn in their own way. We had some heated competition during our 5 on 5 games and the intensity only increased throughout the week. All of the campers hard work came to a peak on Championship Thursday.

Throughout this week, the NIKE Boys Basketball Camp at Creekland School had exciting and great moments. Championship Thursday was nothing less than inspirational for all the staffers and campers. That morning, the campers walked into the gym with an extra bounce in their step. Anyone could notice the focused and determined look in the eyes of the campers. We started off the day with living by numbers. Next we quickly jumped into our individual skills stations for a quick review. Each day the campers rotated between 3 different skill stations. Individual skills, 3on3, and video session gives helps teach all parts of the game to the campers.

Now its championship time! The first championship round was the 5on5 games.  The NBA, college, and high school division championships was balanced throughout the week. Next was our Living By Numbers Championships. With so many returning campers, there was a lot of anticipation of who will be selected. Living by Numbers (LBN) program online has been extremely beneficial to most of the campers. Lastly the crowd favorite was 3on3 Cut Throat Championship. All week the campers have been earning points and learning different ways to be successful with their teams. Coaches, players, and parents enjoyed the intensity during the 3on3 games.

Championship Thursday ended with our NIKE Awards Ceremony. All the campers received camps T-shirts, workbooks, players evaluations, and various fun prizes. Below is the list of LBN winners and the photos of the individual winners. We are sad the camp ended today, but we are more excited about the improvement of all the campers.
