NIKE Boys Basketball Camp: Championship Friday at Lakeside High School

Posted by Anonymous | Monday, July 21, 2014 | Category: |

Our very first year in Hot Springs was one filled with top notch talent and effort. We had some very exciting moments at camp this week talking especially about our 5 on 5 Championship games. In our High School division, Hot Springs High ended their week long losing streak with a big Championship win on Friday. In our College division, UConn came up with a late in the game come back for a win. And in our NBA division the Spurs claimed their victory by just 2 points. We also had a buzz worthy moment when Cross Cardenas hit the half court shot at the buzzer to claim the NBA Hot Shot Championship! We are looking forward to another talent filled week next summer with even more great campers.

Throughout this week, the NIKE Boys Basketball Camp at Creekland School had exciting and great moments. Championship Thursday was nothing less than inspirational for all the staffers and campers. That morning, the campers walked into the gym with an extra bounce in their step. Anyone could notice the focused and determined look in the eyes of the campers. We started off the day with living by numbers. Next we quickly jumped into our individual skills stations for a quick review. Each day the campers rotated between 3 different skill stations. Individual skills, 3on3, and video session gives helps teach all parts of the game to the campers.

Now its championship time! The first championship round was the 5on5 games.  The NBA, college, and high school division championships was balanced throughout the week. Next was our Living By Numbers Championships. With so many returning campers, there was a lot of anticipation of who will be selected. Living by Numbers (LBN) program online has been extremely beneficial to most of the campers. Lastly the crowd favorite was 3on3 Cut Throat Championship. All week the campers have been earning points and learning different ways to be successful with their teams. Coaches, players, and parents enjoyed the intensity during the 3on3 games.

Championship Friday ended with our NIKE Awards Ceremony. All the campers received camps T-shirts, workbooks, players evaluations, and various fun prizes. Below is the list of LBN winners and the photos of the individual winners. We are sad the camp ended today, but we are more excited about the improvement of all the campers. Until next year Lakeside HS!
