NIKE Boys Basketball Camp: Championship Friday at Kedron Fieldhouse

Posted by Anonymous | Monday, July 21, 2014 | Category: |

Our 6th annual NIKE Camp at Kedron Fieldhouse was clearly a success! With every player working hard and coaches pushing them to be their best, everyone left the gym tired every day. The goal that our coaches set for campers was to get 1% better every day they were in the gym that week. They worked on their teamwork in 3on3, their individual skills, and their knowledge of the game in the classroom. Campers showed us just how hard they could work on "No Walk Wednesday" and showed off their favorite throwback jerseys on "Throwback Thursday." Coaches were thrilled with how much passion and effort was put into camp this week. We would also like to say a special thank you to Mrs. Wiggins of the Wiggins Cake Company for bringing cupcakes for the entire staff. Until next year Peachtree City!

Throughout this week, the NIKE Boys Basketball Camp at Creekland School had exciting and great moments. Championship Thursday was nothing less than inspirational for all the staffers and campers. That morning, the campers walked into the gym with an extra bounce in their step. Anyone could notice the focused and determined look in the eyes of the campers. We started off the day with living by numbers. Next we quickly jumped into our individual skills stations for a quick review. Each day the campers rotated between 3 different skill stations. Individual skills, 3on3, and video session gives helps teach all parts of the game to the campers.

Now its championship time! The first championship round was the 5on5 games.  The NBA, college, and high school division championships was balanced throughout the week. Next was our Living By Numbers Championships. With so many returning campers, there was a lot of anticipation of who will be selected. Living by Numbers (LBN) program online has been extremely beneficial to most of the campers. Lastly the crowd favorite was 3on3 Cut Throat Championship. All week the campers have been earning points and learning different ways to be successful with their teams. Coaches, players, and parents enjoyed the intensity during the 3on3 games.

Championship Friday ended with our NIKE Awards Ceremony. All the campers received camps T-shirts, workbooks, players evaluations, and various fun prizes. Below is the list of LBN winners and the photos of the individual winners. We are sad the camp ended today, but we are more excited about the improvement of all the campers. Until next year Peachtree City!
