At our first annual NIKE/Elite Hoops Boys Basketball camp at Greater Atlanta Christian Academy, coaches emphasized the importance of "not mistaking activity for achievement." Campers were told that not only because they were at a camp, in a station, or even playing 3 on 3, they were not going to achieve anything or get any better if they were not giving 100%. This applies to all aspects of the game including ballhandling, rebounding, shooting, and defense. A player must go full speed to get better, and to eventually perform better in games. Our goal is to help the players to develop this type of work ethic outside of camp by working on it constantly during camp.
If players continue to work as hard the rest of the week as they did in their stations, 5 on 5, Living by Numbers, and 3 on 3, as they did on the first day, then they should see an unbelievable change by Friday afternoon! The coaches are excited to see what's in store for the rest of the week!
